At the heart of Valhalla Studios YYC are co-founders Mel Gignac-Christensen and Kaitlyn Randell. Their long-standing friendship, complementary strengths, and shared commitment to helping people succeed shape the company’s collaborative and human-centered approach. Supporting the team is Mini Moose, Chief Chaos Officer and unofficial ambassador of curiosity, imagination, and dragon-related discussions. While the founders focus on building opportunities, solving problems, and helping projects move forward, Mini Moose helps ensure creativity never loses its sense of adventure.

Mel Gignac-Christensen

Co-Founder & Creative Director

Mel is the co-founder and creative force behind Valhalla Studios YYC. A lifelong learner, history nerd, heavy metal fan, book dragon, and self-described idea machine, she’s driven by curiosity and an endless fascination with what’s possible.

Known for seeing opportunities where others see obstacles, Mel thrives on exploring new ideas, solving complex problems, and helping people discover strengths they may not recognize in themselves. She believes creativity should be accessible, collaboration should feel human, and learning never truly stops.

One of her favourite parts of building Valhalla Studios YYC is helping turn ideas into something meaningful and watching people realize what they’re capable of creating when given the opportunity to learn, grow, and take ownership of their work.

When she’s not working on Valhalla Studios YYC, you’ll probably find her reading, studying history, listening to heavy metal, learning Swedish, spending time with her fur babies, or disappearing down a research rabbit hole simply because curiosity pointed her in that direction.

Known for turning complex challenges into achievable goals, Kaitlyn thrives on creating structure, building strong relationships, and helping people feel confident in the work they do. She believes clear communication, thoughtful planning, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of every successful project.

One of her favourite parts of building Valhalla Studios YYC is helping transform ambitious ideas into practical action while creating an environment where people feel supported, capable, and empowered to succeed.

A strong advocate for creativity, kindness, and making people feel welcome, Mini Moose believes every great project benefits from a little imagination and a sense of adventure. While the founders focus on building opportunities and helping projects move forward, Mini Moose helps ensure creativity never loses its sense of wonder.

When not busy championing dragons, adventures, and the occasional creative detour, Mini Moose can usually be found exploring new games, making new friends, and finding ways to make the world a little more fun.
